Our work is our best spokeperson
Carolina Pool Technologies, LLC was originally founded as Atlantic Pools & Water Features. We opened in 2001 by Ellen Lee as a small swimming pool maintenance company. Ellen’s initial plan was to run a very small pool cleaning route to supply her income while giving a flexible work schedule needed to raise her two boys. Within the first year, Ellen worked hard to give her customers superior pool cleaning services at a completive price. Word around town concerning Ellen’s eye for detail and small extra duties she did to personalize her service for her clients spread quickly and Ellen’s route began to grow from “word of mouth” advertising only.
CPT started with 14 accounts that Ellen purchased from another local pool cleaning service to over 60 accounts within the first year. Ellen continued to grow and hired her first employee to ride with her and help clean pools within the first 6 months of business. During CPT’s second year, Ellen continued to sell accounts off of client referrals only and found herself in need of another maintenance technician to keep up with the business growth. At the end of CPT’s second year, Ellen had grown CPT’s customer base to over 100 maintenance accounts. During the third year of business, Ellen decided to try her luck in commercial pool maintenance along with starting some R&D work for a new pool equipment manufacture in need of help to obtain an NSF stamp for sale of their product in the US.
A successful business on the rise
Ellen and her new Service Technician, Scott Baldwin started the Research into large water volume saline chlorination. By the end of CPT’s 3rd year, Scott and Ellen finished the R&D project and became a dealer for ChlorKing Commercial Saline chlorination generators and began servicing municipal and university pools. At this point CPT’s residential route had grown to over 150 maintenance accounts with 3 technicians and Ellen & Scott were maintaining approximately 10 commercial accounts. CPT continued to grow, Ellen & Scott continued to grow the commercial maintenance department and continued R&D with Chlorking to include Ultra Violet light for large volume commercial pools. By the end of CPT’s 6th year in business, CPT had become one of the largest residential and commercial maintenance companies in the state of SC and serving the Southeastern US in commercial swimming pool maintenance.
As of Today, Ellen continues to run CPT with the same high expectations she always has had. During 2020 and the COVID crises, Ellen welcomed her Son, Jake Fortner to her team as General Manager with plans to turn over CPT to Jake for his career as a second generation business owner.
With hundreds of delighted customers, Carolina Pool Technologies is the service and construction company of choice for swimming pools in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama.
